Christmas table place setting / favour

It's such a long time until Christmas and I really love making Christmas cards / projects. I got this snowman just after Christmas last year so this is the first time I've got to use him.

Each layer excluding the hat and the scarf was layered 3 times to give the snowman some stability. I then cut out the take out box and assembled and attached to the snowman. This enabled him to stand up.

I then used the nesting scallops for the snowballs and added the name using the Banana Split alphabet.

You could put a little gift in the box for your guests. So you have a place setting and a favour in one!!

Enjoy, Wendy X

Anniversary card for mum and dad

It's my parents anniversary tomorrow (41 years) so I made a special card for them.

I've gone for a simple and elegant design with the word 'Love' as they are as much in love now as the day they met.

I used the Chocolate 4 X 8 alphabet for the letters. It is a yummy font indeed.

Enjoy, Wendy X

Cute Baby Card

After spending all morning and afternoon in front of the TV, I thought I'd get my creative juices flowing in my crafts room.

I didn't get chance to use the chick and Egg die at Easter, so I chose to use the Egg Shell part of the die on my card.

To make the card and the layers, I used the nesting rounded squre dies. The baby's head was made using the pilgrim girl die. The greeting is an old rub on I had lying around but this was attached to the nesting ovals die.

Enjoy, Wendy X

Pretty Pink Roses

Roses seem to be the 'in thing' at the moment and there are a lot of dies out there to help you make them. However, I used the nesting scallops to make these little beauties as it gives them more of a rose like look.

All you need to do is cut out the scallop, cut a spiral into he scallop (see the Roses dies from Lifestyle Crafts to see how to do this). You then wind the spiral outside in quite tightly, then release the flower when you have wound it all the way in. There will be a little base for you to glue you rose to.

I then used the short fat leaf from the leaves die set to finish off my rose. You can fold or score the leaves to make them look more realistic. You need to cut out four of the leaves and glue them in a cross shape for your rose to sit on. You need another 2 leaves for each stem.

To make the stems, take some kebab skewers, cut them down the the size you like and then cover them in brown grossgrain ribbon. To attach them to the flowers, make a hole all the way through the rose and the leaves, glue the pointy end of the skewer and then post this up through the bottom of the rose.

I made a makeshift vase out of some acetate but you could use a small vase you already have.

I always love these nesting dies as they are fantastic for layering as the increments in size they come in perfect. I also made the base card with these dies.

I used an old favourirte die of my (the house) to make this great new home card. If you haven't spotted it, the tree in the background is from the leaves dies (DC0077).

Rich Chocolate Cake with no calories - Tutorial

As promised, here is my full tutorial for the cake I made last week.

- Stick double sided tape on both edges of each of the 3 strips (it is important to do this before you start fringing the cardstock
- Trim at small intervals on each edge of all 3 strips so you have a ‘fringed’ look

Birthday Princess

It's a friends grandaughters next week and I was commissioned to make a card for her.

They may take a little whle ti make, but if you want to make many of the fairies then get a little production line running. First the legs, then the heads, etc.

My Sisters Birthday

It's my little sisters Birthday tomorrow, so I had to make her a card.

I am using my favourite dies again (nesting scallops and circles) and the Blossoms from the Fresh Start release.

I made the card using the nesting scallops and then used the nesting circles for the base on the card. I used the branch and berries for the foliage for my blossoms to sit on. Finally I used the Paperdoll 4 X 8 alphabet for the wording.

Ahoy There!!!

I'm a really big fan of Lifestyle Crafts Cupcake Wrappers. There are so many possibilities and I'll shall be using them all the time over the summer for my 3 gorgeous niece's birthdays.

Anyway, this one is for a boys birthday. Nautical seems to be quite the theme at the moment and it inspired me to make this pirate style cupcake wrapper.

I have basically cut out the wrapper 3 times and layered them on top of each other to give the effect of the sea. I then cut out various items and inserted them into the wrapper. The map is my favourite. I used a label die to cut it, scrunched it up and then added some ink around the edge to make it look authentic. Finally, some wording using the License Plate 4 X 8 alphabet.

Enjoy, Wendy!!

Rich Chocolate Cake with no calories!!!

Well, I couldn't help but post this design. I am still creating for my US Mothers Day and I thought that a chocolate cake with no calories would be ideal.

We always buy cakes for occassions in our family but no one eats them as they always on diets, or like me Gluten Free!!

This cake was made simply by using the Lifestyle Crafts Nesting Circles, Nesting Scallops and the Blossoms from the Fresh Start rlease. You also need a few strips of paper too.

I am going to post a full tutorial on my blog later this week, with photos etc.

Enjoy, Wendy!

Something Different

What a beautiful day today. The sun is shining, top temperature is going to be 21C. It's only April and it's not the usual weather we'd usually expect in the UK. I am certainly not complaining.

I thought I'd get away from my usual pinky colours today. Time for a change I think.

I was going through my scraps drawers today and found this lovely red corrugated card. It cuts beautifully and doesn't squash the overal rib effect of the card, even with the alphabet I used.

For the main focus of the card, I used the blossoms from the Fresh Start Release. Basically, I folded the petals in half to give them a 3D effect. I then layered the flowers and fixed them together with a brad.

The main card was made with the Nesting Scallops dies. These dies are amazing and so versatile.

I have made a photo frame as one of my projects and the tutorial for this will follow on the CMIT blog later in the month.

This doesn't necessarily have to be for Mothers Day it could be a birthday too.

New Arrival

I always make baby cards to congratulate people so I thought it was about time to make a birth announcement card.

I just got the Lifestyle Crafts Essentials Mini Collection and it is super cute. I just love the little door that opens.

I have put a photo of my little niece behind it (she was a beauty as a baby), a little bit minxy now. I do love her dearly.

The letters have been done using the Sketchbook 4 X 8 alphabet and I've layered them a few times for a 3D effect.

I also wanted to thank everyone for their lovely comments on my blog recently too. You are all so kind and it gives me the motivation to make more stuff!!!

Now I know it's not Christmas!!!

I know it's not Christmas, but I loved making this card as I enjoyed making the mess with the white ink I used to simulate the flour!!! I just had to share it.

To make the cookies look more realistic by lavering the brown card 3 times. I also used the coloured Bazzill Bling to give the icing on the cookies a shiny look.

It's also a great time to buy the dies I used to make the card as Creating Everlasting Memories have a major sale on at the moment. See link below!!

Gift Bag

I made this little bag for Mothers Day but it would be great for birthdays and other occassions. It's the perfect little bag for chocolates, jewellery and othe such precious items.

I made the bag using 3 of the the Lifestyle Crafts treat bags and attaching them together. I then took a strip of card and attached it to the 32 outer bags with brads through the ready made holes. This way you can move the handle to open the boxes.

To finish, I used the new blossoms dies from the Fresh Start release.

Letterpress meets Cuttlebug

I love experimenting with my Letterpress, especially the ink mixing and the finding other things to Letterpress.

To make this thank you card, I used the Twigs and Springs printing plate. I find it really easy to line up the items you want printed on your card by putting the items on your card face down with the sticky side up and the pressing the plate down to attach it. Perfect line up everytime. I then used the nesting circles to cut my design out onto.

To make the spotted background, I used the Cuttlebug swiss dots embossing folder. All you need to do is open up the folder then stick it to the letterpress. Ink it up and away you go. It's just like using the Letterpress plates.

To finish, I just added some little silver nailheads on some of the flowers.

Birthday scalloped Circles

I think you may have guessed now that I really like the scalloped circles and cutting holes in my cards.

I love making birthday cards and for this particular design I have kept it simple.

I used the Lifestyle Crafts Nesting Scallops to cut out 4 scalloped circles and then glued these onto the card. I then used the Nesting Circles to cut out 4 holes in the scalloped circles so as you can see you have a frame effect.

Easter bunnies

This cute bunny card is the perfect way to wish your loved ones a Happy Easter. I have chosen bold and bright colours to make the card stand out. Instead of using pattered paper which sometimes takes your attention away from the main card design, I have used Bazzill card in various colours and textures.

The bunnies themselves were made using the dog die for their bodies, pop up flowers for their ears and nesting circles for their heads. I have used a bow from a sundry die. If you are a die hoarder like me, you'll find a bow on one of those dies.

It's always fun to use Quickutz dies to make shapes other than what they were built for. I have used the dog die on many occassions to make bunnies and babies. So go and hunt through your dies and see what you can create.

Hoppy Easter!!

Nesting dies and pop up flowers

I am such a big fan of the Lifestyle Crafts nesting die shapes as they are such good value for money. For example in the nesting circles, you get 20 dies in total! I don't know any other company that offers that value for money.

I am also in love with the pop up flowers dies. They must be one of the most inexpensive set of dies I have but they are so flexible.

I created this card for my a friend. I wanted a chic stylish design and I think the chocolate and cream colours work wonders.

Letterpress Blossoms

I really love the Letterpress blossoms plate. It is a nice big design which makes it easy to ink. What is also good is the red ink. It looks slightly brown in the tube, but once rolled on the brayer it is stunning.

I stamped the design onto Letterpress card and then divided it up into 9 squares. It gives the impression that the design has been exploded.

I then used the Paper Doll alphabet for the wording.

Letterpress Wedding Stationery

Letterpress screams Wedding stationery, so this week I thought I'd start to put some together starting with a 'save the date' card.

This card is so simple to make so mass production wouldn't be an issue. I have use the Lifestyle Crafts Spring Gift Set (SGS-10) to get the scalloped shapes. Basically, there are two scalloped shapes attached together with a brad. The Letterpress design is embossed into the top of the card and the bottom of the card can be used for the Wedding date / details.

In 'Love' with Dots and Dashes

This new alphabet I have has become my new 'Banana Split' (4 x 8 alpha). It's so versatile and what I really like about it is that it fits nicely onto many of the 'little extras' you get when buying a set of Lifestyle Crafts nesting dies.

To make this simple and elegant card,I used the little tag die from the Lifestyle Crafts A7 Essentials Collection Set - (L-CC-025) to cut the letters into. I then just used a heart die to finish the card.

I think this would be a perfect Wedding or Anniversary card.

Lifestyle Crafts Letterpress

I've been playing with the Letterpress again last night and I just love the wedding printing plates.

The design is simple enough that if you wanted to mass produce them for a wedding, it would be quite straight forward.

I added some gems just to dress the card up and make it unique.

I was a little annoyed with myself and my impatience, as after a lovely printed image I managed to get my hand on it and smudge the design. Oh well, will I ever learn!!!

Lifestyle Crafts Dots and Dashes

I just got this new alphabet from Lifestyle Crafts and I am in love. It's called Dots and Dashes and it was the Black Friday Release from 2010. It's still available (see below for stockist).

This little baby card was simple to make. You just need to cut the letters into the card and then layer some pink card behind it.

The baby was made with the Boy Dog Die (KS-0529). It was cut out twice and the arms were just fixed in place behind the body. The head was a one of the pilgrim dies.

Letterpress white on black

I'm still loving the Lifestyle Crafts Letterpress kit and couldn't wait to try the white ink on black card. I was being a litle impatient and wanted to finish the card so sprinkled some pearl emobossing powder on the letterpressed design and heat set.

I was really pleased with the outcome and wanted to create a stylish, girly card. I don't have loads of flower dies, so this large bloom was made the balloon nesting dies and a circle die to join the petals together.

Starting to feel better

What a week I've had. I've felt so poorly so I'm so pleased to start feeling slightly better again.

I dragged myself back to my craft room and made this card using the Lifestyle Crafts Letterpress.

The pink coloured ink I mixed myself using white and hot pink inks. I wanted a slightly darker ink than the pastel that is available, so mixing it yourself is the way to go. It's so easy too. You just need a pallete knife and a bit of elbow grease!

Too poorly to post

Just wanted to write a little note apologising for not posting for a while.

I have tonsillitis but also I am plagued by a stinking headache and cough and have no energy to even enter my craft room.

Hopefully I will be back on my feet soon and make up for the length of time with no new projects :-(
